LEED = Leadership in Energy and Environmental D esign

The rating system developed by the US Green Building Council (USGCB) for the certification of sustainably designed buildings has developed into one of the world's most important building classification systems since 1998.

The LEED certificates are not issued directly for construction products, but corresponding LEED declarations of conformity can be purchased. In the declaration, an assessment is made based on the content and emission limit values for volatile organic compounds and aldehydes.

The basis for the limits are the Department of Public Health (CDPH) standard method and the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) regulation 1168.
